Hi Daryl!

DS> I still refer to them as "OOPS", after losing packages and
 DS> items.

I probably would too.

BM> Can I ship via FedEx or UPS to a PO box?
 BM> Short answer:
BM> Yes, if you use a "hybrid service" like FedEx SmartPost or UPS
 BM> SurePost.
DS> You can also ship it to a UPS Store, if they have "boxes
 DS> available" for rent.

True, Couldn't find quickly if FedEx offers a similar service. Almost
be better to use a service like Mailboxes Etc. and just go to one place.

BM> FedEx and UPS can't deliver to PO boxes because the USPS won't let
BM> them. It's as simple as that, or at least, it was that simple for
 BM> many years.
BM> There is an obscure feature of the USPS offered for some PO boxes
DS> Well, so far, I haven't had a problem doing it that way. If
DS> they ship via USPS in the first place, there's no problem. But,
DS> UPS, FedEx, etc. don't allow you to have it shipped to a
DS> facility, where you could pick it up. Instead, you have to sit
DS> and wait at home, etc., all day and into the night, for the
 DS> package to arrive.

And then they'll come while you're in the bathroom!!

BM> So one of those no-and-yes situations. %) The postal customer (that be
BM> you!) has to ask for a special box to get this normally-no option.
DS> Well, my box is not the smallest size, but a tad bigger. Yet,
 DS> "size does matter". <G>

Um, yes. Was more thinking the size for storage of the incoming
shipments. Guessing probably some storage underneath the mail boxes and
then another general storage area with various sized compartments.
Boxes for people whose mailbox number ends in 01 goes in compartment 01,
box numbers ending is 02 in compartment 02, etc. They did something like
at at the store where I worked except it was based on salescheck number.

BM> And as far as late deliveries, had one last night. Mail here at the
 BM> house didn't arrive until approxiamtely 7:40 p.m.! I don't remember it
BM> being that late unless something happened to the postal vehicle. UPS,
BM> FedEx, etc. will normally deliver as late as 8 p.m. but the time is usually
 BM> on their electronic notifications.
DS> If weather is an issue, I can understand it. But, if the
DS> employee is "goofing off", that's not acceptable.

Not sure what was going on but affected more than just my carrier. WX
was decent. Next day even worse: found out early evening the mail was
running late; called a little before 9 p.m. and was told the [head
postmaster] in Des Moines had just ordered all carriers in and to stop delivery
for the day. So something seems to be going on. Des Moines is
about 180 miles west of here - a three hour drive. And the mail hub
before it gets to the local post office is in Milan, IL, about 10
minutes SW.

Day after the no-delivery day did get both days' mail in the middle of
the afternoon, sort of the usual delivery time.

DS> On an ironic note, this young woman's childhood best friend,
DS> surprised her with a package, as he was disguised as a FedEx
DS> delivery driver. When he lowered his mask, and she realized who
DS> it was, "she melted at his feet".
 DS> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5lENnRGei8&ab_channel=Happily

Nice. :) Little surprises like that should happen more often. (OTOH
how come she wasn't suspicious or at least thinking it odd someone was
recording an ordinary package delivery?)

BM> For a while this summer it was running a day early: the delivery was a
BM> day after the e-mail said it would.
DS> The app is more wrong than the weatherman with his forecast. :P

Here it has been extremely accurate: if a piece of mail is pictured for
being delivered that day then it shows up over 97% of the time. Package
delivery is another thing: usually if says to be delivered today is
today, but if the app says tomorrow might be today. Had one recently
where the app said in two days and it and another one that was never
listed showed up two days early! (And I do prefer two days earlier to
two days later!)

BM> Now I have to research that? <gg> It appears both suggested options
BM> are used, plus a couple more. Have seen where the CC is almost exactly
BM> what the actor/character says so seems to be script-based, others
BM> exactly what the actor says down to stammering. Then there are shows
BM> like _Adam-12_ where the actor will say "this young punk sprinted away" and
BM> the captioning will display "the hoodlum then ran in that
BM> direction". Huh? Where'd they get that??!! Sometimes it seems like
BM> I'm watching the international version (if there is such a thing) where the
BM> English has been changed to make it easier for non-English speakers
 BM> to under- stand.
DS> That researching keeps you out of trouble. <G>

It does?!

DS> I've seen where one person rigged up his campaign sign with
DS> electrical wire (shocking), and another "cut to the quick" with
DS> razor blades in the edges. I've never seen such political vitrol
DS> as I have this year.
BM> That's going more than a little overboard.
DS> Whatever happened to civility, and even good sportsmanship??

Gone with the wind!

BM> Gee, I thought lollipops were created in a factory!
DS> Lolli has more than one father?? <G>
BM> Biologically probably no, but the way her mother fooled around....!!
DS> So she had a lover that would "suck her"?? <bseg>

Ooooooo!! Good one!

DS> Yes, I did just go there, but I'm in one of my nether moods
 DS> today. :P

And that's different from usual how?!
