August,
AA> Your energy boost is really just a sugar boost. You probably wouldn't
AA> have these swings of energy if you avoided the processed sugars in
AA> the first place. Kit-kats and colas shouldn't be viewed as energy boost
AA> solutions.
I don't eat candy that often...but the chocolate chip cookies with the
M&M's are my "sweet tooth medicine". I'm avoiding dairy right now, so that means
no ice cream...yet, I haven't had a banana split in ages. Offhand, I
am not sure where you could get them.
AA> I used to do as you and kept some chocolate bars as "emergency" snacks when
AA> I would feel a slump coming on. Gradually, I would reach for
AA> those bars more and more. Then, I too preferred to have a late
AA> afternoon nap, and wake up a couple hours later to resume my evening
AA> with a dinner.
I know some diabetics who keep peanut butter crackers as a stand by,
for a low blood sugar feeling (I think that's right). That's what they
offered me after I woke up from my last colonoscopy 3 years ago...some
peanut butter crackers, and a Sprite. My entire digestive tract (from
top to bottom...pun intended) was NOT on speaking terms with me until
the next day. :P
AA> But then I got sick and tired of gaining weight. I learned about the
AA> dangers of having too much processed sugars. I simply threw out over 20 lbs
AA> of sugar in the house. I had steady cravings for several days, but
AA> I learned to get through that.
I haven't been able to break myself of that habit of "one meal a day".
However, I've had to be up early the last few mornings for medical appointments,
or maintenance on the car...so, that meant I had to stop
off for breakfast.
AA> Today, about 2 years later, I am down 25 lbs after reaching nearly 200 lbs.
AA> Previous sport jackets that I couldn't button-up properly, now
AA> do. I threw out my overly long and worn out belts where I had reached
AA> the very last holes and was stretching the leather. I stopped needing naps
AA> very early on when I stopped taking chocolate bars and sugar.
I don't rest well at night, so I usually need a nap. I'm very sleepy
right now (no chance to nap today), but I'm working to stay awake to
answer this huge packet (over 1600 messages, as I haven't logged on in
several days)...and do a ham radio traffic net this evening. Then, I will
crash out for the night. At least I can sleep in the next 2 mornings.
AA> DEL *.* is a very powerful command.
It did free up a lot of disk space. <G>
AA> But if you would change the way you eat (for the better), you would
AA> probably won't get tired as often.
The thing that really takes a toll on me is when I have to drive around
town on errands. The stress with these folks driving like "bats out of
Hell" makes me tense up something fierce. I don't know why they have
"speed limits"...no one seems to obey them.
