Hi Daryl!
BM> Over the years I have had a few day delays from UPS but has also either due
BM> to nasty weather or truck issue, and was notified via e-mail (I am signed
BM> up for notifications). And to be fair the other way, I have had deliveries
BM> at 8 and 9 at night.
DS> Now, if weather is an issue, I can understand it...but if not,
DS> I have to wonder. I've seen the mail carrier stop at the end of
DS> the street for at least a half hour (it's the last block on the
DS> route), and he decides to have lunch. Why couldn't he deliver the
DS> mail first??
'Cause he's hungry now! Mail delivery here has been 'all over the
place': sometimes delivered around 2:30, generally between 3:30 and
4:30, sometimes as late as 6:30, occasionally later. And it's the same
carrier. Could see if a substitute and does the route in reverse of the
usual way, or a different pattern.
BM> Find it too difficult when they're closed, hmmm? <Pulling on locked doors:
BM> "Let me in!!" <g>>
DS> Actually, I can check my Post Office Box 24/7/365...but I don't
DS> like to get out after dark. Plus, if it's too big to get in the
DS> P.O. Box, I get a card notice, and have to pick it up at the
DS> counter. They're open 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and only
DS> 10am to 1pm on Saturday (closed from 1pm Saturday to 8am Monday).
DS> If the day is a US holiday, they're closed that day as well. With Christmas
DS> and New Years on Friday this year, that means a long
DS> weekend.
Yes, would make more sense to get your mail when the counter is open
should you have a package. I would guess the Post Office Lobby here is
also open constantly -- know there is a wall with Post Office boxes to
the left; the counter is to the right. With the old Post Office it was
arranged so the first room was with the mail boxes and stamp machines;
go through doors which could be locked to get into the counter area.
The new Post Office has no separation between areas and there are cards,
boxes, etc., for sale on the counter side.
BM> Censoring the profanity is fine IMO; the TV segment edited things so it was
BM> more like Sparkle Poof 0.3,
DS> YouTube had the bleep, but you could figure out what it was. :P
If it's a short bleep most of the time one can figure out what was said.
Oh: reminds me - some shows will bleep out the person's name in the
regular audio but if one has the Closed Captioning turned on it's
printed!!
DS> ... To Post Office: "Photos - Don't Bend", isn't a challenge.
BM> Simple: slip a steel sheet in the envelope!
DS> They'd probably sue you if they got injured.
I'd tell them they need to be more concerned with paper cuts!
BM> Good! Hate to have your Microsoft Warranty expire, your car coverage
BM> slip, your Social Security Number be void....
DS> As the late P.T. Barnum noted, "There's a sucker born every
DS> minute".
Gee, I thought lollipops were created in a factory!
