Hi Daryl!

 BM> <whine> But why nooooooot?!
 NB> Reality. <G>
BM> <whimper!><g> Does verify the computer system is only as fast is its
 BM> slowest piece.
DS> All computers wait at the same speed. And, if there were no
DS> messages, your whimpering would likely be louder. <G>

Until the neighbours wonder what's going on?!

NB>> ... Hold a true friend with both your hands. - Nigerian proverb
BM> OK, so the Nigerians aren't always just trying to scam money! <g>
NB> Not all of them, anyway... :)
 BM> A few 'bad apples'....
DS> Crusoe, the celebrity dachshund, wanted payment in dog treats. <G>

That works just as well!

BM> ... Bachelor: One who's footloose and fiance free...
DS> I used to think fiance was pronounced "financee". <G>

In some relationships it's closer to 'finance'.

DS> My first fiance (I broke the engagement off before we got
DS> married), always wanted me to take her to the most expensive
DS> restaurant, always pick up the tab, and to forsake all hobbies
DS> outside of work, to spend every waking moment with her.
DS> Basically, I was to do all the giving, and she was to do all the
DS> taking. That kind of relationship does NOT work.

As the tagline says, beware of monologs masquerading as dialogs. Should
always be a two way communication and understanding.

DS> In contrast, my late wife didn't care whether we ate at
DS> McDonald's or The Olive Garden...food was food. Plus, she asked
DS> "who is paying for this??". I normally would give her a big
DS> toothy grin (with my dentures (my own set of falsies <G>)), and
DS> she'd lament "I was afraid of that". Yet, there were times, I
DS> asked if we could "go dutch treat", or if she'd pay for it, and
 DS> she never complained.

There are times when an inexpensive meal is just as satisfying if not
more so than an expensive one. As Janice said, food is food. Sure,
want it cooked properly and presentation and atmosphere add to the
experience, but sometimes a hamburger is more mentally satisfying than a
steak.

DS> I've heard of family members getting into fights at restaurants
DS> over who was going to pick up the tab (can't we just do dutch
DS> treat??). Now, if someone is going to buy me a meal, I certainly
 DS> won't complain.

The problem is ego: being able to throw down a hundred dollar bill and
pay for all the others is to some a symbol of power. Personally I also
like a free meal, though prefer to take turns. (Bartering allowed:
repairing a computer is worth at least a McDonalds.)
