Hi Daryl!
DS> Years ago, a former Sysop and his wife (both are dead and gone
DS> now) were "about to get frisky", when a telemarketer called. Not
DS> to lose anything on the moment, they "let it all hang out" <G>.
DS> The telemarketer was so embarrassed, that he hung up!! He
DS> probably thought he had dialed a porn line!! <BG>
BM> Yours is more interesting than my phone call!
DS> Well, it wasn't mine...but I had to laugh when told about it.
I have to admire people who are fast to think of 'counteractivties' like
that!
DS> There's a franchise in central Arkansas called "David's
DS> Burgers", at www.davidsburgers.com -- if you order a combo, you
DS> get unlimited french fries.
BM> Sounds good! ...Wonder how they do the unlimited French fries with to
BM> go and delivery orders?!
DS> That I'm not sure of. Right now, dining rooms are limited to
DS> 67% capacity...and the best time to go is after the lunch rush is
DS> over.
That's called 'early dinner'! <g> Unless we don't have a choice we try
to avoid the various rush hours: less crowded, usually better service.
DS> When I was on dial-up, I used a door from Sunrise Doors
DS> Software, called CID Check. It took the number from the modem,
DS> and that was the equivalent of a telnet email verifier on today's
DS> BBS's.
BM> It would seem the phone companies could do the same.
DS> I remember paying for the Caller ID when I had the landline.
DS> But, after the way AT&T did my late Mom and myself, I'm never
DS> going back. Besides, their phone lines are likely VoIP instead of
DS> analog, anyway...and I've already got that with T-Mobile...and at
DS> least half the cost.
When I removed DSL I was surprised how much cost was going to be left of
the bill for just telephone service. The service charge itself isn't
all that bad, all those little add-on charges add up: recovery fees
(what are they recovering?), this fee, that fee, plus of course the taxes
-- which are fine as help run the various governments.
BM> Mine can; just one less intreruption. More convenient for me to check
BM> their app on the phone.
DS> My pharmacy doesn't have an app, but they have a Facebook page.
Hmm: they post for all to see your prescription is ready for pick up?!
